One of the best bad movies that I’ve ever seen 😭

This shit is so flawed across so many levels but I do not fucking care man this shit is so so entertaining and I honestly think it was pretty good. I know I’m out of my fucking mind I know but this shit was hilarious man. Yes, I wish we actually got a good Max Payne adaptation but this shit is so fun bad I love it so fucking much.

The movie lays everything out for you right from the start when Marky Mark Wahlberg begins mumbling his monologue. It's a painfully shallow film, far too simplistic when compared to the original material, and that's why a tear of agony rolled from my eye, drowning in the film's oppressive darkness.

A good action movie, with the signature elements of a Remedy story. Mark Wahlberg is a good actor, his acting only weakened at the screaming, very intense moments. The noir photography was very nice

I was expecting something similar to Sin City which i loved, but this movie just want all that, yea it was good, very Interesting premise, emotional towards the end. It’s a worthwhile watch don’t get me wrong, but it’s no Sin City

The only part of this movie that feels anything like Max Payne is when James McCaffrey shows up for a cameo at the very end. That, and a minute long sequence in a parking garage where Mark Wahlberg finally does something cool. Other than that, this is basically a shitty action thriller where a bunch of uninteresting characters pretend to be people from Max Payne and limp along to the beats of a story that doesn’t even begin to touch the source material. 

There are so many things in this movie that do not make sense but the worst of them is why Mark Wahlberg is in this at all. Truly one of the most baffling casting choices I’ve seen in a while. Not everything is his fault, as the script mostly has Max acting like a sad loser and not really doing much. Max (the character) is sort of a sad loser, but you definitely don’t spend the duration of the games waiting for him to do something cool. And it takes FOREVER for anything cool to happen in this movie.  Mila Kunis also sucks balls as Mona. Honestly everyone in this movie is bad. Except James McCaffrey ❤️ 

I really just don’t think anyone involved with this film understood the games or the characters in them. More than anything, this movie was very very boring. That’s about the worst sin a movie based on Max fucking Payne can commit. The only reason this is getting one full star instead of a half is for the shootout in the parking garage. That was some Max Payne shit for about sixty seconds. Plus it was nice to hear Max’s real voice for a line or two.
