This had the potential to be much more emotionally terrifying and devastating, so imagine my surprise when the film was sprinkled with comedic elements which kind of ruined the intense tension that the movie built up in the first act. How am I supposed to feel for the characters if they don't act seriously or that there doesn't appear to be much realism? If you're going to pursue the dark comedic route, stick with it from the beginning; just my personal preference though. I do appreciate that, despite its low budget, the film is entertaining enough to make us forget about its limitations, and there are some truly horrific practical effects in here as well. Just a shame that there had to be tonal shifts which ruined the immsersivenes the film had from the start.
