This film was ridiculously slowly paced, without offering enough substance to justify it. The worldbuilding feels half-baked, and keeping the location ambiguous didn’t do it any favors. I still don’t know why her mom was stealing babies or how it supposedly took Fanny sixteen years to figure it out.
Before the screening, the director encouraged us to stay after for a Q&A where he and a writer would “explain what we just watched.” Honestly? I’d rather go get lunch.
