I liked much of the insight into one of my favorite films, though I think the structure of the documentary could have been more interesting. I would have liked to see more about the actual film and its influence on horror through the years. It mostly boiled down to some significant figures’ experiences with the film. This is cool but a bit disappointing.

A great documentary for a great slasher

A great documentary for a great slasher

Even now, 50 years later, it hasn’t lost any of it’s vividness. I’d like everyone to continue to understand its value. It’s a film of that importance. We must hold Texas Chain Saw dear, and continue to nurture it.

The way Takashi Miike speaks about this movie, how deeply it impacted him and the way he holds filmmaking is so endearing wow.

He’s imagining a world on fire, he is imagining a level of American violence that seems to be unprecedented day after day, he’s seeing a depiction of community relationships that have completely disintegrated. // America is a madness and I want you to look at it and experience it. Would love to sit down with Karyn Kusama and pick her brain about so much of this. I think I could listen to her talk about movies all damn day, like yes I did start crying when she was talking about how beautifully staged and framed the Pam x meat hook sequence is.

Ultimately, I think most great art is a punch in our complacent faces !!!!!!!
