yo i clocked out immediately after i saw kyle gallner like it was such an in and out that the way i processed this movie was totally different like did i watch it for kyle? absolutely!
i found myself really enjoying this film more than i thought i would which was a pleasant surprise, honestly i wasn't expecting it to be what it was— i looked up the genre and it said like horror, drama, thriller, and idk if its just because its from '08 but i feel like it was not really...any of those things? i think maybe it could pass for a mild thriller but really it wasn't that imo
regardless it was a sweet movie about never giving up but in the same breath, it makes you realise that maybe some things are okay with letting go! is one dog worth the life of two boys? like sure one boy kinda deserved it but the other didnt thats for fucking sure
but my critiques mostly boil down to it felt underdeveloped, there could've been so many interesting dynamics if we had explored the mccormack boys personal lives; relationships with their father, and even each other, and even pete's familial life!! it wouldve been so interesting!!!
i love harold i love harold so much he was so sweet and kind even though he was surrounded by such assholes, he rly didnt deserve his fate whatsoever but then again somethings just have unforeseen consequences that you can't escape no matter how good the person, but he was by far the most decent boy out of the trio of boys and i think kyle gallner did so great in this and rly portrayed that kinda like meek awkward guy really really really well and i loved that striped oversized sweater on him, he was such a darling
and i really do love dogs 😞
