I’ve been meaning to watch this for a little bit and I think I picked the perfect moment, absolute balls day at work and this completely took my mind everything, the weird fishes opener set me up and watching them play just felt so good to see, feels like a concert I’m watching by myself, Thom’s vocals genuinely make my heart melt and the put me in a damn good mood the second I heard body snatchers, genuinely one of my favourite songs.
**All I need:
**
Anyways after a little crying and genuine laughter from thom looking like the bends mannequin about 40 mins in they got onto all I need, the first time I originally watched the scotch mist version of all I need I bawled my eyes out, this song is already perfect head to toe and the way they visualised it with almost perfect audio was just perfection, the slight echo in thoms voice and the gentle guitar set you up for the song slowly as the drums just lay a backing. The xylophone coming in and experimentation with the piano just made this listen feel special, the sudden chords for the outro came in and it’s just a song I can listen to all day and night, the xylophone, drums the guitar all linking and the vocals breaking through is my favourite thing, the outro for all I need is nothing short of perfection and the way it was visualised just feels special.
Me personally I love videotape as a close to the album but nude just worked out perfectly, the way it was visualised was sick, I want to know what the filming process behind it was because it genuinely captivated me, nothing like the rest of the film, just its own little thing and it did is really well.
While this isn’t exactly a movie, it still felt special, seeing one of my favourite music albums of all time visually performed and filmed might be top 10 cool things, all I needs segment as well as house of cards were my favourites and I’m so happy this exists, feels so much more special that simply listening to the album.
I can only imagine what this would’ve been like on New Year’s Eve for fans, 17 years ago.
