To preface, I had the chance to see this on Broadway with the original cast, so my expectations were high going in. I loved it when I saw it on Broadway, and I love this West End proshot as much.
I love how this expands upon the movie. Samantha Barks is so good as Elsa, and Laura Dawkes as Anna likewise, but personally Jammy Kansongo’s choices as Kristoff are cringy (however, he has an amazing voice).
I think all of the added songs are great, and the staging is amazing. Specifically, Dangerous to Dream, What Do You Know About Love?, Monster, and Colder by the Minute are songs that add a lot to the show. I love how the latter two expand upon Elsa at the end of the show, which was somewhat lacking in the movie. I also love Let the Sun Shine On and A Little Bit of You, extending the prologue to give more context on Anna and Elsa’s relationship, and their parents lives. However, I do not like Hans’ new solo song and it’s reprises, and I skipped them in the proshot. Oh also I think Hygge is boring. I also prefer FTFTIF Reprise over I Can’t Lose You, but that’s more of a personal thing. Also, I can’t remember if Anna’s solo song was cut.
Overall, an amazing adaptation.
