was excited to see this on mubi because I just did the book for book club. this was awful, and just because the narrator has a few nice lines it does not make it ok to release this sad excuse for an adaptation of such a meaningful book. somehow the camera quality was WORSE than the 1955 film I watched yesterday?? literally zero colour grading everything looked gray….

I wish I had watched 17 minutes of instagram reels instead of this.

It’s got like a couple poetic lines and an unconventional way of filming it. Note that I said unconventional and not “unique”, “cool” or “clever” or anything like that.
