Midway update: Halfway through this movie I couldn't believe some people watch this every year for the holidays. It’s got some decent dance performances but the songs are pretty lame and I could care les about anyone’s motivations. And it’s hardly a Christmas movie!
Final update: This movie got better as it went along. The last 30 minutes were fun but not enough to save this from just being a pretty middling example of what Hollywood musicals of it's era are capable of. The songs weren't all that memorable and I didn't buy the romance for a second. There were some fantastic dance numbers though and it got a few laughs out of me.
