Oof, what a disappointment. I was excited for this one. I thought it was going to be much more in the single location survival horror lane with the guy stuck in a spike pit, but that was just a secondary story that didn't really do much. The primary story was just a generic woodsy slasher. The characters were generic, the killer was generic, his backstory/motivation is practically non-existent, the melodrama aspect was generic. There was far too much CGI blood and stabbings for my liking. When they went practical it was great, though. Richard Harmon was awesome, easily my favorite part of the movie.

One thing I'm not seeing anyone else point out specifically is the dynamic between the siblings. I've seen discussion around how their bond isn't believable and I agree, but I have a theory that those characters were initially written as a couple and the dialogue wasn't really changed when it was switched to siblings and that's why it feels weird. In what sibling bond would you say the following:
"You don't look at me like you used to"
"You and your baby are all I have left, I'm not letting go." (While his long term girlfriend is alive)
"I'd do it again Ash. I made the right choice. It was you. It was always you"

Like it just feels more romantic than siblings should be.
