Suprised I never seen this until today. I played HS football and this took me back a bit. Good ole Billy bob thorton plays the head coach and he does a great job at playing a fatherly but get up in your tail FB coach. That country boy from Tokyo drift and the guy that played Boobie miles had great performances when the drama unfolded. When it comes to HS football this might be the best one next to remember the titans. B-

I feel like the essence of this film can only be encapsulated by the wise words of Archie Andrews: "-that means you haven't known the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of high school football." I do think to get why the high schoolers take it so seriously, you have to have grown up with a sports background, playing in a league, etc., but even then the adults essentially threatening people about a state championship..... GET A LIFEEEEEEEEE. One of the players should've just lit the field on fire tbh...

Pros:
- Jocks in crop tops (peak male physique)
- Nike vs Adidas (did not know how culturally relevant this beef was internationally)
- I love da sports movies
- The kid with the abusive dad was acting his ass off
- clear eyes, full heart, can't lose

Cons
- Everyone (and every relationship) in this town is weird and half-baked except maybe Boobie Miles
- Usually the coach is the heart of these movies, I didn't buy it here, he was kind of all over the place - you can't be a dick and Mr Nice Guy
- Abusive dad was not run over
- This movie was too fucking long for how little happened
