There were definitely choices made.
Cheesy and over-the-top, Rawhead Rex fails to really capture the same kind of energy that other Clive Barker-written films tend to have. What it lacks in that kind of campiness and/or creepiness, it makes up for with ham (not to be confused with cheese). The awful costume design for the titular monster and how stilted it moves in close-ups is utterly ridiculous and make for some good laughs.
