Probably the weirdest cathartic experience I’ve ever had
I think I’m on the right track but I am also probably missing so much:
The longing to be desired, useful, or just seen as you despite it all.
You can’t just exist silently and be loved, so you perform and that partner or friendship you latch onto gives nothing because they expect nothing, you’re simply filling a void.
People objectify and treat others as a social currency. Look at my partner, they’re a desirable object that gives me worth, people want what I have. Etc.
