prime example of how racism and guilt can eat you alive, and how it’s truly a concept that is taught and can be reversed. the fact that hank despised leticia’s husband and wanted him to die and treated him inhumane in prison, then suffered the loss of his own son to realize the sickening traits he picked up from his father… omg i can go on about this. i didn’t know the d*ddler was in this movie, but him cosplaying himself in prison and getting the death penalty felt genuinely surreal to me i thought it was real life. halle berry the woman you are. a generational talent. i could feel the loss through the screen. it was personal. it wasn’t a scenario handed to her through lines on paper, it was real. i almost cried at one point and i rarely get emotional at movies. there are honestly so many hidden messages in this movie that i’m so excited to uncover. the ending had me feeling so nauseous for leticia. i know it’s controversial because of course they gave an oscar to halle playing such a stereotypical black woman kind of role, but i think the message can go deeper than that. really good i do recommend.
