TIA... This Is Africa
I’ve known about Blood Diamond for what feels like forever. My brother’s been telling me to watch it for years, and I just kept putting it on the shelf. No real reason, just never got around to it. Until now. And yeah… I wasn’t disappointed.
I know this movie is packed with political messages and stuff you could argue about for hours, but honestly, I’m not getting into all that. There’s a lot there, but this is just about how the movie hits.
Leonardo DiCaprio was great. I know I’m a fan, but still, he just doesn’t let you down. Every time you think maybe this will be the one where he slips… he doesn’t. He proves it again here.
But then you’ve got Djimon Hounsou. I hadn’t really seen him in much before this, but damn… this performance is something else. It feels real, not polished. The intense scenes hit hard, and the emotional ones don’t feel forced at all. He just goes all in, and you feel it.
The story overall was really strong. It keeps you watching, even though it’s over two hours long. You don’t just drift off, you stay with it. That said, yeah, the pacing can slow down in parts. Some scenes drag a bit. But when it’s good, it really pulls you back in.
Overall, I’d recommend it. It’s not an easy watch, but it’s definitely worth it.
