Watching this film straight after watching the short-film (i saw the face of the devil) was quite heavy. But being able to talk with Julia Kowalski afterwards asking multiple questions about literally everything made the whole experience really enjoyable.
Understanding that this film (Her will be done) was in the making before the short one but came out after!
The story of the short film was originally in the full film but she preferred to cut it out.
Really having all the insides of the making of these two pieces was fascinating.
So NO the cows were NOT killed #savethecows #moohmoohforlife
With her work path of being a photographer and knowing a lot about this whole domain, i truly felt it in these fix shots that had immense tension and a complete composition. That work made by her and Simon Beaufils the director of photography.
Them being from Julia Kowalski saying completely connected like if they were linked together. “Like if he was an expansion of my brain, making all my ideas but BETTER”.
A lot was said and is said inside this film. From feminism, animal brutality, religion, immigration this movie is political. And in a way that it doesn’t stand out at firsthand.
Gotta add a bad note maybe. The way the film plays feels like if a lot of the tension was made in the middle of the film and not in the beginning neither the end even tho the end shows great “power” through Maria character but i felt like i was slow…too fast, moving!!! Then to slow…. And for me it was harder to keep great eye on the slow parts. Also the filmed is not meant to be sci-fi but in some point it does even tho it’s not meant at all it’s only about the idea of believes that real farmer have, or polish people have. Like in her short film she did indeed try to document the practice of exorcism is Poland that still occurs our days.
A film at first part seems ok but just dig a bit into it and it shows much more than you think!

listen, i love a good slow burn but this was sooo slow and felt so long. based on the introduction before the movie i was expecting it to get super insane by the end… so i was disappointed to say the least. there are elements i love and cool moments in this but i wanted it to reach a level that it never did.
