Maurice is an aging veteran actor who becomes taken with Jessie, the grandniece of his closest friend. When Maurice tries to soften the petulant and provincial young girl with the benefit of his wisdom and London culture, their give-and-take surprises both Maurice and Jessie as they discover what they don't know about themselves.

While this is occasionally moving and stunningly acted by our two leads, I can’t get over how much of lecherous figure Peter O’Toole cuts as a randy old man.
He’s still one of the best, mind.

So this is where Jodie Whittaker came from huh. Very stupid film hinging on nostalgia for O'Toole (who I saw doing a Q&A in Galway this same year!) and literally nothing else, silly pervy story and awful Corinne Bailey Rae songs.
