George Meliès loves making stuff disappear it seems. I’m a bit confused by this one. The set’s are nice but what’s this ending 😭. He just rots in hell ?

*Halloween 2025: Film XLVIII*
This as of now has got to be my favourite of Georges Méliès' work.
Of course Méliès himself must star in it and as always he is the evil/devil character and as always he is amazing. Very comical and cartoon-like but still so in a way he is seen as a threat. Thanks to the pop of colour, he really stands out among the characters because of his sharp red soaked cloak.
The set design is phenomenal with trains going over German tracks to a celestial carriage with a skeleton horse and then literally hell.
The story itself is quite basic with the whole "be careful what you wish for" shtick but it is still a beautifully crafted film by one of my all time favourite directors. Superb!
