Director- Tsutsumu Yukihiro.This is the seventh work I have seen of his and the fourth work of the Kezoku 2 SPEC series.The story is unravelled more in this, and several questions that the previous parts left unanswered are answered in this. One of the main reveals is of the antagonist we see at the end of SPEC Life. We learn that it was a person who used ice powers and has a sister who uses flame powers, creating a yin-yang, and they are named the same.The film also rewrites the loss of Toma Saya's powers while also fleshing it out through painful outbursts. I think that could be due to her having pent-up energy, having not used it for a long time. At the same time, it could be that she is suffering side effects from using the power to its maximum potential in her younger years.The film also reintroduces the character of Ninomae as an antagonist, but this time, it is not the original one. Instead, it is a clone. This feels like the series is pushing his character too much. It could be that he was highly popular during that time.I like the meta joke of calling Kuriyami Chikaki's character, Kill Bill, the whole time, as she is most famous for her role in Kill Bill Volume One. She has also acted in Battle Royale.This part with the Ninomiya clone acting to protect the SPEC users reminded me of X-Men. It can also be observed in how the people striving for a revolution are disregarding the lives of the common folks and treating them with contempt. The way they are treated as but a means to push their agenda appears to be distasteful regarding what they are trying to achieve, safety for their kind and preaching that their actions are reactionary. It could be that they just preach it to others to make more people join their ranks, and in actuality, just want to live in a world free for them to rule.The reveal of the Twenty-Fifth Tsuda was awesome and added more to the fleshing out of his character. The same can be seen with their Chief, Miyabi Masaki, whose tone turns bleaker in this part.Overall, this was another fine addition to the series, but I expected more from it. With this, I now have only two more films to watch to complete the series.
