Dracula (1931) is one of my favourite vampire films ever and Bela Lugosi’s Dracula is my favourite portrayal of him 🧛🏻‍♂️
i love this movie so much. Bela Lugosi is truly one of a kind 🖤

I have so many Dracula themed items in my vampire collection. i have a full sized black wooden coffin in my room that was turned into a shelf ⚰️ two shelves have all of my vampire collections from over the years. Another shelf has some of my dolls and one has all my anime figures & i have Gut’s Dragon Slayer sword from Berserk standing next to the coffin hehe. It’s my favourite thing ever!! and tonight i decided to take my Bela Lugosi’s Dracula figure out of his box and set him up and omg he’s so cute!! He comes with his candle stick from the film aswell as the tray, a bottle of wine & 2 glasses from the film and a bat that you can have ontop of a stand so it’s next to him and he also comes with changeable hands, heads and his cape. It’s the cutest thing ever. I love my coffin shelf w all of my favourite stuff 🖤

this flu has been kicking my butt so bad so i haven’t watched any films for like 4-5 days 😭 but i think I’m finally at the worst of it so i decided to watch one of my favourites 🖤

I thought Dracula was meant to say 'bleh bleh bleh', and considering he didn't say it once the whole film, I feel a bit deceived. On a more serious note, it's easy to see why Dracula was a huge box office success; of the many vampire films I've watched, Bela Lugosi's hypnotic gaze and slow, deliberate movements make his portrayal of the classic horror icon one of the very best. As for the rest of the cast, I felt that Dwight Frye gave a great performance as Renfield, but no one else really stood out to me as being excellent. I really liked the sets and costumes, and the use of atmospheric, uncanny lighting as well a lack of background music to help emphasise the eerie vibes. I also have to give the film extra points for using one of my favourite classical pieces of all time in the opening credits: 'Swan Lake, Op. 20, Act II No. 10: Scene, "Swan Theme"'. All said and done, a really good film, and one I'll certainly be coming back to soon.

finished the book a solid day ago so i watched the movie... this is my fourth dracula adaptation. i'm normal. the following header is a dracula reference. i'm normal.

DANNY'S JOURNAL (written in shorthand)may 30--- odd that john(athan) harker has such a diminished role after basically being the main character in the book. renfield's impact on the story is greatly enhanced in the film adaptation.-- WHERE THE HELL IS QUINCEY MORRIS?!?! at least coppola had the balls to put a cowboy in his movie... also a good amount of other characters have their roles changed or eliminated entirely. dr. seward, rather than being lucy's courter, is now her best friend's father. bizarre! also arthur isn't there at all.-- pace is PICKED UP. hits all the same beats as the original for the most part but there is literally zero padding whatsoever. i appreciate that on one hand (because the book was so immensely long) but also man i wish we could just spend more time seeing the characters-- much more dracula than the book! cheers!-- the lore is a lot tighter in the film imo! seems more definite in the rules about dracula.-- AMAZING sets. the cavernous spaces of castle dracula are absolutely stellar. and matte paintings rock!-- also some great cinematography! the shot of renfield at the bottom of the ship's stairs laughing is fucking amazing. one day i will make a voyage of the sailing ship demeter movie and you'll all be sorry

anyways. first part of my universal/b-movie crusade of this summer. stay tuned!
