hooptober 11 #15

biggest thing i learned from this was not to smoke. because the tiny disclaimer would come up literally every time someone lit up 😭

was ready to give this the benefit of the doubt but my godddd this was so boring and slow. could have been an hour shorter honestly. disappointed :( some of the ghost scenes did freak me out but mostly it was just Eh. did not need to be 2+ hours long.

Had so many mixed fillings on this.
For the first section I was really enjoying it. I felt watching the relationship was compelling, the build up and discussion of ghosts was cool, the possessed daughter etc.
But then the ghost stuff happens , and it goes on for quite a while longer than it needs to. Vijay is trapped in this house for what feels like eternity. Part of the reason it has so many details etc is probably because it’s set up for the reveal later, that it was all manufactured, but it still takes to long.

And on that note, the reveal was pretty great. I was like “wow so it’s shifting genres how cool.” But then, the ending is absolute dog shit. “Oh actually the lie you told about ghosts , it’s actually real and is happening like your story. Why? Idk just cause. Anyways, credits.”

The pieces were all here, and I’m still excited to watch double X, but this movie gets too much praise. I can’t recall the last time I saw such a horrible ending.

Lots of genre play. Swirling all of it; horror, thriller, a little comedy, definitely some romance. It’s very cute and hoppy in tempo the way it changes and gets after each one. The camera adjusting and ratcheting up for play in each one. Some interesting score and lighting aspects also to help. It’s really fun guessing along and the eventual “twist” per se isn’t crazy but provides another fun road to travel down as it winds down. It’s a film with all kinds of ingredients on the pizza if you will and each adds a pop of flavor and sizzle to make an all out entertaining pot to be mixed.

**I’d be so pissed to find that lady dead. Like, do that on your own time. Seriously, I’m just tryna deliver pizzas.
