My favourite Tarkovsky film so far.
Even though, cinematically, it felt somewhat weaker compared to his other works at least in terms of visual ambition or atmosphere, which I usually find more gripping Nostalgia touched me in a deeper, more sentimental way than I expected. It’s not the most hypnotic or visually transcendent of his films, but emotionally, it resonated with me more than the others. I loved every conversation. It’s rare that I feel so connected to the words themselves in a Tarkovsky film, but here, the weight wasn’t in the silence or imagery alone it was in what was said. The emotional gravity sat with me long after it ended.
