A very loose reboot of the original silent night, deadly night. Mainly just being little Easter eggs and references from the series (Garbage day, deer head kill, kid in the car) while choosing to do its own story. Is that story very good? It's okay. It's mostly a very generic slasher film that does nothing to spice it up or make it stand out. The kills are good and I really like Jaime King as the main character, she does a great job. As much as I love him Malcom McDowell feels like he's in a whole different film. He's kinda just saying random things every other scene. Kinda like he's playing doctor loomis again. In fact, this film feels very Rob zombie Halloween. I think the only part I was really entertained by was the finale in the police station. You had the Santa vs Santa fight and then the final fight between Aubrey and Santa. That was a really good scene and I loved the flashing red and green lights. The flamethrower was pretty awesome. But yeah, it's not a bad horror film and there's things to like about it. Just not a standout horror film that I'm dying to recommend.
