It’s insane that any of this works. It’s a miracle that this is a 4-4.5. None of it should feel cohesive or unified, and yet it does and I love everything about it.
The specificity and the density of the jokes. The jose character is great. The musical scene is perfect. And after that scene it really gets going and I’m drawn into the story and by the end it really feels like it was going somewhere. Forever waiting for episode two… (You could tell Chris worked really hard on this. Good job)

I’ve been a fan of Chris Fleming for forever. People Are Coming is utterly hilarious and his character of Gayle is one of the funniest things to hit the internet. It’s not hyperbolic of me to make the claim that his comedy helped to further solidify the bond between me and two of my closest friends. This pilot could not have been written by anyone other than Chris. So much of it is so hyperspecific not just to his comedy but to his interests. Boba tea, the bitterness of the Ross and Rachel relationship, male virginity as an aspect of a form of sexuality that society despises, etc. No other comedian out there right now understands culture in relation to aesthetics the way that Chris Fleming does.
