*You have a chance to be loved. Take it.

These four stars are entirely for Ewan McGregor’s character
My mother was obsessed with Beatrix Potter as a child so my uncle pirated this movie when she was much older (reason unknown) and I just found the disc in the Sound of Music case so had to watch
This film dragged on for so incredibly long at the end, I was genuinely bored to almost tears. I don’t care about the 16 year old who had a crush on a 7 year old who grew up to be annoying. Plus, after a certain point, Renée Zellweger‘s lemon-pinched expression got incredibly tiresome. And why are the dad’s sideburns (if they can even be called that anymore) so big it’s actually so distracting how does his wife not burst out laughing at him daily
Watched downstairs on the dvd player that hums like a jet engine, couldn’t see very much of the film because the curtains have been ripped off the living room window and I can’t figure out how to drop the blinds
*“Miss Potter, I know you have decided not to marry. All my life I thought I would not marry either, but something has caused me to change my mind.”
“Mr Warne!-“
“No. Let me go on, for if I do not say what I have to say now, I fear I never will. Miss Potter, I would like you to consider-“
“Mr Warne-“
“Doing me the honour, and I do not expect an immediate answer,-“
“Beatrice!”*
