emma roberts, they could never make me hate you. like how do you have so many iconic roles? madison montgomery, jill roberts, chanel oberlin, brooke thompson AND poppy moore… wild child is my ultimate comfort movie, like i've probably watched it five times and it just never gets old. literally contains THE redemption arc, using perceived brattiness and a rebellious attitude as a way of coping after her mothers untimely death. connecting with the girls in her boarding school, that’s surprisingly heartfelt for a comedy of its era (that usually leans into mean-spirited crude humour that feels kinda dated). it’s a true girl empowerment story of a friendship of girls who see eachother as equals, rather than competing with eachother, which really fits the more softer tone of the second half. it has gorgeous y2k visuals, with the charity shop montage and the dance party battle!! also the contrast between the bright countryside and dreary boarding school halls. i love everything 2000s, and the fashion and music this contains just makes me love this even more. the characters are all well written and a major reason i rewatch this as much as i do, and poppy moore is one of my favourite protagonists ever. she has a mean streak, but her true colours eventually become present. it just a simple safe watch, with a happy ending and a feel-good vibe throughout that you can shut your brain off for
