Director- Komatsuda Daizen, Yatabe Toko and Tsurumaki Kazuya. This is the sixteenth film/show I have seen of Kazuya. He is the protégé of Anno Hideaki and hence has worked on several Evangelion projects. Such as the End of Evangelion, a few short films, and all four parts of the reboot Evangelion series. He has also worked on FLCL, Kill la Kill, Berserk, etc. This film/anime is a re-imagination of one of the finest Gundam story arcs and is meant as a sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam 1979.The film only has the first three episodes of the anime, so here I will only be reviewing them. The first episode sets up the major characters quite well and also sets up the setting. It takes place five years after the one-year war. Challia Bull, a former subordinate of Char Aznable, leads a Principality of Zeon task force aboard the warship Sodon in search of Char's red Gundam, which has resurfaced at the Izuma colony of Side 6.The protagonist, Amate Yuzuriha, is pulled into the underground illegal Gundam battles known as clan battles due to a run-in with a person called Nyaan. The protagonist has a run-in with a wounded Xavier Olivette, and to save herself from enemy Gundams steals his Gundam called Gquuuuuux. The Gundam is equipped with a Psycommu, which reacts to new types. A new type is a genetically enhanced human who is built for space and has psychic powers to enhance their Gundam's potential. The second episode is a prequel one and shows us that instead of Amuro Ray, Char pilots the White Gundam and hence the tide of battle shifts in favour of Zeon. The third episode takes us back to the present and shows us that even though Amate could pilot it once, she still has no control over it and lacks experience. When she enters into a clan battle with the alias Machu, she meets Shuji Ito, the current pilot of the Red Gundam and together they enter the Clan Battles. In the battle, Shuji, even though he is experienced, is still unable to beat up two opponents, while Machu does nothing but get beaten up. In the heat of the moment of a sound thrashing, she somehow manages to unlock the Gundam's Pycommu again and learns that she must be agitated or in danger to use it.Overall, this was pretty decent but not interesting enough, which makes sense as this was only till the third episode, out of which one episode was just a flashback.
