This was a neat little surprise! Paced a heck of a lot better than the first one now that it's no longer trapped in the same initial restraints as its predecessor, Adult Swim Yule Log 2: Branchin' Out simply throws in another hokey modern film "tradition" of the Hallmark Holiday Film as opposed to the Yule Log footage film. This one slots in a whole lot more nicely with horror as a whole, working on similar levels of artifice as horror does and allowing for a lot of overlap in the kinds of characters one can expect in a horror film and in a Hallmark romance movie. The film tosses out a lot of lore from the first film in order to make this one work, but that's totally fine if it means that the jokes are going to land a bit better and the special effects are a lot more effective this time around
