A relatively minor work in Murnau's surviving repertoire, but one that clearly has its admirers. I wasn't particularly taken with the story too much, I respect the original play but it's not something I'm particularly passionate about, but the use of the framing device, revolutionary for the era, just kinda struck me as odd. However, the performances are quite good and Murnau's camerawork here really stands out as always, so it's worth a watch for that.
