The Christophers seems like a relatively simple story at first, but as the film progressed, it shed a lot of its comedic moments for ones with a lot more depth and quiet brutality. It's carried quite a bit by the performances from Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel, both of whom play off each other very well, and are each utterly brilliant and absorbing. Jessica Gunning is also very good as part of the supporting cast, and the only blight in terms of acting comes from the black hole that is James Corden. I loved the use of naturalistic lighting and how the visual tone of the film matches the textures of 'The Christophers'. The score was also perfectly matched to the film, adding a dreamy, melancholic atmosphere especially towards the end. On the whole, a really great film from Soderbergh, and I hope Ian McKellen continues to show off his talent for as long as possible.
