Unkovski's feature debut trades festival-circuit exoticism for something genuinely warm and lived-in—a coming-of-age tale set in a remote village in North Macedonia where a 15-year-old shepherd discovers electronic dance music and rebels against conservative tradition. Shot entirely on location with mostly non-professional actors, it has documentary-like authenticity without ever feeling like anthropological tourism. The film seamlessly straddles crowd-pleaser and art-house territory, with striking visuals, vibrant colour, and a clash between modernity and tradition rendered with fresh eyes and gentle humour. The lead performance is quietly soulful, and the chemistry between two grieving brothers gives the story real warmth. But the narrative hits too many expected beats, settling into a predictable rhythm that keeps it from being truly memorable.
