- Often REALLY funny, occasionally cringy. Some jokes HIT, some went on way too long. I understand its just the medium lol- THE FUCKING PRODUCTION VALUE.- Loved the “they’re woke now” running gag- Actually idk how this happened but Turgidson seems slightly toned down? Idk how they managed that in a play medium. It’s not even because Oliver Alvin-Wilson didn’t do a good job, he did, but George C Scott was a fucking crackhead.- Honestly almost everyone in this did such a good job, ESPECIALLY Coogan and Jayawardena.- The presidents assistant guy was annoying as shit but I understand the necessity - Speaking of which, the way they worked around the whole “multiple characters played by the same guy in a live setting” was actually really clever!- Strangelove is actually slightly more likable in a hes still a piece of shit kind of way and I kinda liked that interpretation???? I credit that to Coogan’s more silly performance and the additional screentime. That point joke had me fucking dying. Also cyborg Strangelove is such a cool change- A lot of the changes for this medium really worked. But i did not care for the changes made to Major Kong at ALL, especially his ending. It felt almost malicious and Kong always seemed like more of a blatantly ignorant kind of guy.- Its passionate, earnest, slightly cringy (in an endearing way), but above a love letter to the original and I have a lot of respect for it.
Overall, that was so much fun and it reminded me of what I love about this story.
P.S. this somehow cemented Mandrake as one of my favorite characters in all of fiction even further. Don't know how that was possible.
