For me, Catholic Guilt has turned from just a bitter feeling to bittersweet. It just feels like a part of me. I have both a forever aversion and fascination with unholiness. As someone who has/is currently living this life, all the absurd dialogue is covertly humorous because it’s so realistic and peels back the veil of the nonsensicality of religion. I love how even though Lilith’s name is revealed to be, by birth, Rachel, We keep referring to her as Lilith. This movie perfectly represents the push and pull for a confused child being thrown into a religion. As well as the sexual and emotional draw to what we learned to know as “sinful”. So perfectly representative of the complex emotions it portrays. So incredibly personal

‘am i going to go to hell for something i didn’t even like?’

pretty thrilling to see acne and sweat and adolescent grossness so close up on screen. i'm so sorry to anyone who had to deal with being catholic on top of all the normal teenage suffering

a really solid debut film!! honestly probably one of the best films presented at aff
the script is very well written, u can feel the existential kind of crisis and all the feelings concerned with main characters happenings in the film;  u ever went to a catholic school u prob would feel everything in even more depth while watching, a really well made coming of age story
