not to dog on this immediately because i really did like it (especially in comparison to t-blockers), but whoever’s doing the sound mixing for this girl’s films genuinely need to be banned from working on another set ever again, i have never heard sound levels this fucked before which is surprising because i suffered through a year of film school 😭 like HOOOOOOOLY PIXABAY, i used the exact same ‘city ambience copyright free’ sound effect in my own shorts.
HOWEVER! aside from some weird editing choices and really terrible visual effects that they could’ve done without (the purple eye thing????), this was solid!!!! i would love to see mackay stick to strictly practical effects in the future, but overall i think it’s flaws actually make it pretty charming and the relationship between the two leads is soooooo gentle and heartfelt… corny witchy lesbian soulmate movie :3 huge for me!!!!
also genuinely thought the poser emo dude was lil huddy for at least half of the movie… was astounded that he managed to find his way onto a queer film set

God bless Vera Drew and composers Alexander Taylor and Eduardo Daniel Victoria. There’s a scene where it cuts back and forth between two couples having sex and the editing/music in that probably raised my rating by a full star.

i'm so sorry but no (no need for the self harm with no actual plot purpose)
