I respect what this is for how it was made but my god is that alien terrible. Dark star is a low budget masterpiece that knows what it is and delivers. John carpenter is one of my favourite directors and even all the way back in his career with a low budget his style is still apparent. Was worried this would be my first miss with a carpenter film but I actually quite enjoyed this.

Early John Carpenter that obviously is some sort of extra funded student film. It’s got some fun moments and dialogue, but boy is it rough in a lot of areas. 

This set design feels like something I could make using materials in my house. Additionally, the audio sounds like it was recorded on a potato chip.

For a first feature film, it’s not a bad start.
