Lie with Me
i lowkey get it and i wish i didn’t. reading majority of the views, i went in thinking the movie was one thing, but came out with a different conclusion. it’s common movies walk you through the story with dialogue—especially for people’s short attention spans these days—but i think this movie makes its point without that. to me, once you get past that point, i think you start to understand the exact purpose and story being told. sure the story could’ve expanded in things narratively and some sex scenes could’ve been excluded, but they weren’t, and to me that means something. usually this type of movie would be a turnoff, but i think it unlocked something inside of me that i didn’t expect to find in a film like this. the criticism is correct, but at the same time, this movie is more nuanced in depicting life in general. it just happens to be with sex and trauma.
