Every time I watch this movie, it gets worse

This was my Top Gun when I was little, and now I’m starting to realize they absolutely wasted one of the most talented voice list in animated family movie history

It's very interesting to me that by this point in 2005, we've had so many animated films featuring animals, yet the animation still somehow looks ugly. Not to discredit the artists involved in this film, I just think there's a lot of things stacked against this. For one, this movie completely suffered for having such a short runtime, it could have been a much more interesting film if it made it to the 90-minute mark at the very least. That would have given time to actually flush characters out, give us relationships that actually hold some emotional weight, and it would have properly stretched out the story a lot better without making it feel like we're just fast forwarding from one thing to the next. Also, I just think this movie is just not funny. I believe it only got one laugh out of me but even then I'm not so sure. What does help this film out is its third act, as we actually got some pretty decent action and some really fun sequences, I just wish we had a lot more of them within the film itself.

Rating: mid-high 4/10
Ranking: #1,710/2,091

1709 - Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (2007)
1710 - Valiant (2005)
1711 - The Invitation (2022)
