“For i am in love with you.”
African queer stories are often underrepresented in the media, so I urge people to watch this poignant, heartbreaking, tender, important and hauntingly humanistic story of love, vulnerability, resistance and sisterhood set against the terrifying backdrop of Britain’s immigration detention centres. The chemistry between Isio and Farah, as well as the other prominent characters is phenomenal. I wish it had been a little longer, even if only by 10 or 15 minutes, but I really enjoyed this nonetheless. A very promising debut from Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor - see, I’ve BEEN saying that 2025 has been an amazing year for directorial debuts! The Q&A afterwards was really great too!
At times humourous. At times intense. At all times a great watch!
