This one hit deep because it rlly is crazy how culture and religion have interlinked… confusing One with the other and how you rlly do have to seek ur own knowledge

this story is something that is so important and absolutely powerful, and it is something that needed telling. but the movie isn’t made well at all, and the music is soooo annoying! yami gautam could’ve carried the movie entirely by herself because she’s a great actress, but it’s almost like the filmmakers didn’t give a f*ck. making-wise, it got a very tacky treatment and i hate it for that. it deserved a better execution for what it was trying to convey. probably no scene except the courtroom monologue lasted more than five seconds. the girl who plays saira has the exact same face on for the entire movie.

It was appreciable how this was entirely a critique of patriarchy and how religion is wielded as a tool to oppress women, rather than an attack on the religion itself.
