The ultimate nobody’s a winner type movie. Whether you’re good, bad or in between, you lose. This movie is super nerve racking, there is so much depth to the characters and depth of the story especially how far the rats and informants go, it’s crazy. It’s such a complex story and I loved it. The characters are so good as well, they are so well written and acted, it’s simply phenomenal. A small amount of points deduced because it can be a tad slow but other than that, it really is an almost perfect film. I also ranked it a bit lower mostly because it’s not really my style of movie. I’m not a huge fan of cop movies but this one will stand out as one of the best detective films. I’d watch again.

I now understand just the weight of that sacrifice for his girlfriend.

In all seriousness, this is one of my favorite movies ever… instantly. Scorsese builds tension, holds it, and creates a final hour that is maybe the best ever? Haha. I thought it couldn’t get any more perfect, until the last 20 minutes rolled around. I think my heart stopped. Four times.

Insane concept that never felt convoluted somehow.

It’s no surprise that this cat-and-mouse masterpiece had me enthralled considering Heat had me in knots throughout.

Perfectly crafted film.

Perhaps the best cast of any film ever? And I felt they all turned in believable, authentic performances.

Six Martin movies in. My lowest ranked movie of his is my best friend’s favorite movie of his. That is directorial range, I’d say.
