Hans Zimmer is without a doubt, one of the two greatest living composers (the other being John Williams), and I'm so glad I got to watch this on the big screen. I absolutely loved all of the pieces; they were fantastically arranged rock versions of so many classic works and the band/orchestra were so good. I was in tears the entire way through, and by the end of 'Time' the theatre was completely silent.
Music is such a powerful language that transcends all barriers, but I think film composers are unique because their work is (as said in the film) timeless and irrevocable. The score is very important to me when watching a film; it can make or break the entire experience, and I have the ultimate respect for everyone involved in producing it. I hope in the future I can experience a Hans Zimmer concert in person, and maybe even work with him.

He can make good scores, don't know why you'd go and watch him. He's not an entertainer so it just doesn't make sense.

Hans Zimmer: “When I left school, I was touring with a terrible band and we had no money, et cetera, and we were going everywhere and things were really grim, people were so poor. And so, I have this fictitious person, she’s called Doris, she wears a great raincoat and she works, she works really hard, you know, her hands are like red from working hard. And come the weekend, she’s got a choice. She can go to the movies with her hard-earned money, or she can go to the pub. When she goes to the movies, I’d better go and have created some magic, I’d better go and give her two hours of an amazing time. So whenever I write, every piece that comes from nowhere, I go, “What would Doris think of this? Is it good enough for her?”. I don’t write for directors, I don’t write for producers, and I certainly don’t write for movie studios… And you know that thing, when you go to the cinema, and the lights go down, and then that magic happens. And for two hours, two and a half hours… we’re all dreaming together. It’s fabulous.Arguably the quickest 2.5 hours of my life. I’m quite speechless. An epic celebration of film music by one of the greatest to ever do it. A guy that is so talented, so passionate and in love with his line of work— it’s just so incredibly intoxicating to witness.
