Mick Foley saying I’ll just be the sock guy and never do anything like that again then two years later slamming himself head first into thumbtacks is very funny.

Beyond the Mat
Wrestling is one of those things I was very into as a child but never really could tell you exactly why - the allure lay in its enigmatic appeal; it presented a combination of pure entertainment and exhibition of hypermasculinity, simultaneously encompassing an element of peril. Now it’s not the same as when I was young, but this reminded me of that appeal, this time prompting introspection on the intricacies of this art form and the lengths undertaken by its participants to captivate their audience. Certain narratives moved me to tears, witnessing individuals transforming their pain into a source of sustenance for their livelihood requires a distinctive form of resilience. I know life can make you crazy, I do. It’s show-business, it’s ridiculous, but it’s also more real than I ever really imagined as a child.
