Chan is Missing felt much more like a documentary than a narrative film. Which was most likely the point. The pacing was all over the place, paired with the dialogue being a little hard to hear (due to people talking over each other). It felt very raw and real, but also chaotic. Almost like their original intention was to film a documentary about Asian Americans, but threw a few comedians in there to keep people interested. The shots of the restaurants, the old folks home, even the people on the street- those weren't actors, those were just people going about their day. People living their everyday lives that just so happened to be captured on film. However, even with the duo trying to format the actual story- it was hard to follow what was happening. Even with the partial narration from the main character, it seemed like it was trying to five different things all at once. From the editing to the very loose plot. Maybe the progression of time wasn't clear enough, or perhaps I just missed it. I couldn't tell if this was supposed to take over the course of a week or multiple months. It felt like both at the same time. Some what drawn out, yet scrunched together at the same time.
