don’t think i’ve ever been more scared in the cinemas before - genuinely had one eye shut for the entire film so take this review with a grain of salt. i think most horror movies lack a good storyline, but this one genuinely kept me intrigued the entire time. this movie does suffer from another pretty dumb main character but i’m convinced that’s just a requirement at this point. the setting felt really spooky, especially up in the honeymoon suite, and i was not a fan that they had to explore it at night.
luckily, i could relax and enjoy the first third of the movie since there weren’t too many jumpscares, but after that, i was bricking myself the entire time. there was a creepy monster from a TV show that the main character used to watch as a kid, and holy… that freaked tf out of me. i actually feel it was scarier than the main antagonist, and so would’ve been more effective to have seen it a bit more than we did. although, i’m not complaining at all - had struggle sleeping last night. i thought the ending was actually good for a horror movie, and i liked how everything was tied up, apart from the message from the bellboy at the end.
if you hadn’t guessed, i hate horror movies, so it’s pretty hard to give it an accurate rating. i genuinely loved the storyline and looking back at it, i thought the jumpscares were really creative. definitely recommend a watch. just don’t buy popcorn. ended up spilling all of mine after a jumpscare and had to clean it up after the movie ended.
