”Letters are truly mysterious, it conveys feelings unexplainable through human speech.”this short is truly pokémon’s love letter to us, in all its saccharine and sappy goodness, released on a day so dear to the hearts of pokemon fans, pokemon day.
i rarely cry to media but pokemon truly makes my eyes water 😭😭, even in the most mundane of moments, like the joy of the pokemon having fun in pokemon concierge, or the snapshots of people’s lives in twilight wings, even in the most year-jerking moments, like when butterfree left ash, jessie’s mimikyu in sun&moon or gengar’s abandonment in pokemon journeys, and also during ash’s achievements. saying i bawled my eyes out after ash won the tournament and finally became a pokemon master in pokemon journeys is an understatement. i felt so proud of the character i grew up with, that taught me so many life lessons no school could ever teach. i reveled in all the melancholy and the unforgettable journey pokemon has taken me through, from the 5 year old me, waking up to catch the newest episode, to the me still catching ash’s successor, liko, every friday in pokemon horizons.
this short really encapsulates the feelings a pokemon fan has, translated into beautiful animation, music (by evan call and suis, love them so much) and voice acting, in turn being the best gift a pokemon fan could ever ask for, a love letter to the fans as well. from the bottom of my heart, thank you pokemon of being such a huge part of my life.
