Primer is pretentious director garbage. I can’t possibly give a movie props just cause it’s confusing. (I’d like to think I’m a pretty smart guy and there’s not many movies that I don’t understand) The director knowingly made it more confusing. (He’s admitted to withholding important dialogue for the sake of making the viewer work, which isn’t always a bad thing. However, in this movie it is executed horribly) It’s performative… In the way that the director wants you to think it’s a good movie simply cause it’s complicated. It has you hooked with what seems to be a fairly good rough concept then WATERBOARDS you with nonsense scenes put together with no explanation. It destroys film and art by existing. Part of me can’t help but think that people who recommend primer only want people to watch it just so that they can say “Oh? You didn’t understand that? You didn’t get it? It must not be for you.”- 4.2/10 (4.2 comes from the acting and the genius behind the concept)
