One of Richard Kern’s most ambitious works is Fingered (1986), whose sarcastic disclaimer says “although it is not our sole intention to shock, insult, or irritate, you have been warned that we are catering only to our own preferences.” The film came about following the criticism of Kern and Lydia Lunch's first collaborative venture: The Right Side of My Brain (1984).

Woof. I suspect I'd have dug this more if I'd seen it 30 years ago when I was young & bursting out of my skin, but now it just seems shocking for shock's sake. I mean, I get the concept, and Lydia Lunch is great, but they ramp up the rough stuff to a wincingly high level by the end, and there's no empathy, no way in. You're a voyeur, a John, a dumb horny sucker here to watch feral junkies play peckinpah with each other.
I guess it's about some kind of catharsis. Sure.

as a kemper fetishist, i think i wouldve indulged the angry, mommy problems gentleman far more than the scummy rapist, but to each their own i suppose. schlocky, unpleasant in both execution and subject matter, and overall unrecommendable garbage - this is amazing! right up my alley! lung leg and ofc lydia lunch do fantastic acting jobs, and emilio cubeiro does too for that matter, but the others? oh god, awful! but that dichotomy adds such an gritty slimy stinky dirty muddy sexy appeal, no? seeing what transcends the guerrilla grime and what remains affixed to it, never to gain any exterior appeal, but still being so necessary for constructing the genre in the first place? the shot reverse shot dialogue in the car is so stilted, to the point i think that it exemplifies the magic of richard kern's films - being just a bit shit lol. BUT HEY! yknow what? a lot of people are into shit... now, im not into shit like THAT, but i do love me a richard kern film. some real good kino shit.
