My sister and I used to be obsessed with Ella Enchanted when we were little. On rewatch, it's lost some of the magic and sparkle I remember it having, but it's still a pretty good and very nostalgia-inducing film. I haven't read the original novel, so I can't say whether it's a faithful adaptation (most sources tend to indicate no), but it's a fun spin on the story of Cinderella, and most of the cast do a great job in their respective roles; I know this was kinda early on in their careers, but Anne Hathaway and Hugh Dancy give merely average performances compared to the supporting cast, and it's unfortunate because their lack of chemistry made Ella and Char's romance unconvincing to me. The plot also takes a while to get going, but thankfully picks up by the third act; as far as visuals go, though, the sets and costumes are lovely, as are the natural locations. Overall, it's a film that's definitely lacking in some areas, but it's not bad, and I'm certain I'll rewatch it in the future to soothe my nostalgia for better times.
