One more for the list of "random obscure shorts I decided to watch just because I related to the synopsis".
I'm one of those persons who strives for connections with people, but I'm avoidant of responsibilities and long-term relationships. I don't know if it's because most of my friendships and situationships didn't really last, so I've been conditioned to only be comfortable in the short-term ones and not know what to do if someone wants to have something more significant with me. Still, even in hook ups and one night stands, I like to get to know the partner, because I don't like sex to be totally robotic, you just use the other person and hasta la vista. Being an introvert, I think it works for me as a way to really open up to a person. Since we've been naked and inside each other, there's not much barriers between us, anyway, so why do we care? The biggest one has been demolished. Putting it this way: I like some intimacy (in all the senses of this word), but I enjoy my freedom too much to sacrifice it for the ideal of commitment to a person for as long as it takes.
Anyway, I've only watched it because I wanted to vent this truth about me somewhere while I still don't go to therapy.
About the short film itself, the influences are all there, milennial romantic comedy with a nice alt rock soundtrack. Totally Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist or 500 Days of Summer vibes. But maybe the lack of expertise from the direction made it not reach its full potential. The influences are good for this kind of plot, just needs some honing down here and there.
