Black Panthers is my first Agnés Varda documentary and holy fuck, she knows how to make a great documentary. She treats her subjects as they are. People.
This film is a brief snapshot of the Black Panther Party, how they function, their ideologies, and the never ending cycle of racism.
What I love about this is Varda's ability to not tell you her opinion on this topic. Anybody could fill in the blanks about how they feel. Radicalists, racists, and people who don't know about the party could get something out of it.
Most of the bland narration was distracting though.
